Role Summary:
We are looking for a Senior Shopify Developer / Lead E-Commerce Engineer to take ownership of the technical performance and growth of multiple e-commerce properties. You will work across Shopify development, conversion optimization, technical SEO, integrations, payments, analytics, and B2B e-commerce, while also helping establish technical standards and guide other developers. This is a hands-on senior role for someone who can work independently, solve complex technical challenges, and connect technical decisions with measurable business results.
Responsibilities:
Conversion and Revenue Performance
Own the cart and checkout experience and improve checkout completion from the current 16.5 percent baseline.
Optimize the mobile purchase path and remove friction across collection and product pages using funnel data, session replay, and heatmaps.
Run structured A/B tests and report measured lift honestly, including neutral or negative results.
Maintain reliable funnel instrumentation across GA4, PostHog, and Shopify analytics.
Technical SEO
Own titles, meta descriptions, structured data, canonicals, robots directives, sitemaps, pagination, parameter handling, host and locale consolidation, and Core Web Vitals.
Maintain multilingual and multicurrency storefronts with correct hreflang and translation rules that never machine-translate brand, product, or note names.
Integrations and Data Integrity
Own the Shopify side of integrations with Zakya POS and Zoho Inventory, Books, and Analytics so inventory, pricing, orders, payments, and customer data remain accurate.
Build and maintain APIs, webhooks, middleware, monitoring, and alerts; support pricebooks, weighted average cost, shared inventory, multi-brand catalogs, live selling, and new sales-channel or POS onboarding.
Payments, Fraud, and Wholesale Commerce
Own gateway configuration, wallet methods, checkout reliability, and wholesale-appropriate fraud controls.
Build and maintain B2B mechanics such as tiered pricing, price lists, customer-specific catalogs, credit terms, and no-minimum ordering.
Systems, Security, and Documentation
Manage domains, DNS, hosting, SSL, uptime, performance, security, backups, recovery readiness, accessibility, privacy, and compliance.
Document every integration, process, and workaround so knowledge is fully transferable.
Technical Leadership
Write executable technical specifications; review other developers work and enforce standards for code quality, performance, and SEO hygiene.
Direct contract developers and specialists, communicate tradeoffs and risks clearly, and build lightweight internal tools or automations that remove manual work.
Qualifications:
Professional written and spoken English and Spanish.
5+ years of full-stack web development, including 3+ years owning revenue-generating Shopify stores in production.
Demonstrated CRO results with clear before-and-after metrics and a defensible measurement method.
At least three Shopify stores launched from zero to live, ideally across multiple brands under one parent organization.
Deep Shopify expertise: Liquid, theme architecture, custom sections, metafields, checkout customization, Admin API, app configuration, and troubleshooting.
Strong technical SEO, multilingual storefront, mobile performance, Core Web Vitals, APIs, webhooks, and ERP/POS/inventory/accounting integration experience.
Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, and at least one back-end language; Node.js preferred.
Experience with GA4 plus product analytics or session replay, payment-gateway and fraud-rule configuration, web administration, Git workflows, documentation, and independent project ownership.
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, IT, Web Development, or equivalent practical experience; a strong portfolio may outweigh a degree.
