Objectives of this Role
- Execute general ledger account reconciliations, accurate reporting, and data verification, with the ability to use the information to analyze options and make financial decisions aligned with client needs
- Monitor accounting policies and controls of clients, and identify and suggest improvements for reporting and recording procedures
- Comply with Canadian regulatory requirements by applying existing and new legislation, and maintaining compliance with the Income Tax Act and CPA Canada Handbook for taxation and financial reporting purposes
- Perform investigation and financial tracing engagements as well as specified audit procedures engagements
- Continue ongoing education by participating in webinars, workshops, and networking events

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities
- Performs general ledger account reconciliations, verify accuracy of data, and report, identify, and correct errors made by both internal and external personnel
- Support timely monthly, quarterly, half-year, and year-end financial closings, including preparation of adjusting journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, accruals, overall maintenance of all operational management accounts, and corresponding with clients for assigned files
- Assist in providing schedules and commentary with respects to operating maintenance accounts results and variances, and with the production of working capital, cash-flow reports, as well as applicable commentary for assigned clients
- Prepare personal income tax returns including schedules of business income, investment income and other information, as required
- Prepare corporate income tax returns including schedules of tangible capital assets, loss continuity, shareholders, and allocation of tax limits
- Prepare trust income tax returns including schedules of beneficiaries
- Prepare charity information returns for not-for-profit entities
- Prepare employment and investment returns including slips for all individuals receiving income
- Prepare special financial reports as requested by management by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends
- Perform tracing of financial transactions, including preparation of detailed schedules of findings and drafting reports on the findings for use in litigation support matters
- Perform investigations into misconduct of employees and / or shareholders, as requested, including determining the type of information required, review of related information and drafting of reports
- Preparation of review engagement working paper files, including the preparation and execution of limited assurance engagement procedures, drafting financial statements and related notes, and completing all required checklists for the engagement
- Preparation of compilation engagement working paper files, including drafting financial statements and related notes, and completing all required checklists for the engagement
- Execute procedures on specified audit procedure engagements on trust accounts including drafting and completion of working papers, drafting of specified audit procedure reporting, and corresponding with entities and individuals under audit
- Preparation of financial statements and related notes under general purpose frameworks including Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and Accounting Standards for Not-for-Profit entities, as well as, any other disclosed basis of accounting
