Job Description:
We are looking for a qualified Underwriter to join our small and dynamic team, focused on level-funded health insurance quotes and stop-loss insurance for small and large groups. The ideal candidate will have experience working as an underwriter and a solid understanding of how to interpret quote documents, including claims experience, large claims reports, and rate information. Experience in risk assessment using prospective risk models is preferred. This role involves direct collaboration with the sales team to ensure accurate and competitive quotes for clients.
Responsibilities:
Evaluate and analyze level-funded and stop-loss insurance quotes for small and large groups
Interpret and work with various quote documents, such as experience reports, large claims data, billing information, and rate details
Assess and underwrite risks, ensuring compliance with company guidelines and policies
Use prospective risk scores to evaluate potential risks and make informed underwriting decisions
Collaborate closely with the sales team to provide accurate and competitive quotes, supporting their efforts to secure new business and retain existing clients
Utilize our internal platform to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of quotes
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, regulations, and underwriting best practices
Skills and Qualifications:
1 to 3 years of experience working as an underwriter
Strong ability to read and interpret quote documents, including experience reports, large claims, billing, and rate information
Familiarity with commercial insurance products, including level-funded and stop-loss insurance
Preferred experience in risk assessment using prospective risk scores
Excellent analytical and decision-making skills
Great attention to detail and accuracy
Effective communication and collaboration skills, especially with sales teams
Proficiency in relevant software programs and tools used in underwriting processes
